Research Associate, Post-doctoral position, Technician position Two positions are available at the Department of Obstetics and Gynecology, Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, NY. One position is at the level of PhD or those with post-doctoral experience. A second position is for a research technician who have a BS or Masters. We are interested in the biology of cytokines including defining the mode of secretion, activation and function of the newly identified member of the TGF-beta superfamily, ebaf as well as identification of its receptor. This molecule seems to play a role in embryogenesis, carcinogenesis, and in menstrual cycles of women. Job Summary: This position will work in Amgen's Research Informatics department, and will partner with Research and Preclinical Development users, translating their business needs into system requirements. The Senior Business Analysts primary responsibility involves partnering with Research and Preclinical Development departments managers and staff to interpret business strategies and objectives to support implementation of appropriate information systems applications. The BA must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of objectives and processes in Research and Preclinical organizations, and demonstrate excellent communication skills with research staff, technical staff and vendors to integrate information systems with cross-functional business strategies. The Senior Business Analyst will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining positive business relationships with managers and staff in major segments of the organization, consistently demonstrate a thorough understanding of the customer's business, their processes, and their priorities, and use 'state of the art' techniques to ensure that system functionality and performance meet current and future business requirements by applying advanced theories/ principles/ concepts. Employees will also prepare complex documentation impacting Research and Preclinical Development projects, maintain and demonstrate expert knowledge of information systems technology and resources throughout major segments of the organization, facilitate process mapping sessions for highly complex, multi-segment business processes, and lead the development and presentation of the ROI model. This position is also responsible for leading the implementation and communication efforts of new programs/ processes/ systems, significantly influencing system design, configuration, and business processes to meet users needs, and presenting key findings, possible alternatives, and recommendations to next level management. The candidate should be knowledgeable about and be able to access all data outlets that customers interface with, will be responsible for mentoring and training new department staff members on complex concepts and/or procedures, and will develop reporting/tracking systems and project methodologies for project teams. Additionally, Senior Business Analysts may be responsible for supervising other staff.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business or the Life Sciences required. Masters or PhD in Life Sciences strongly preferred. Typically, 8 to 10 years related experience also required. Candidates should also be familiar with Amgen specific systems and technical standards, business hardware/ software/ network fundamentals. Additional requirements include familiarity with technical diagram/process flow-charting (RUP), and MS Office Applications, including MS Project (project scheduling, time management) and MS Windows, and participate in professional organizations that apply to job responsibilities. Successful candidate must work well in a matrix team environment and possess excellent leadership and interpersonal skills. Must be familiar with 21 CFR Part 11, and 21 CFR Part 58.
