Before you install any software or hardware on your computer, follow the following precautionary actions to insure that if something goes wrong after you have installed a new software or hardware, you can restore your system to its original state. |
1. Click on "Start" on your Windows 95 tool bar. |
2. Click on the "Control Panel" icon. |
3. Click on the "Add-Remove" program icon. |
4. Click on the "Startup disk" icon. |
5. Make bootable emergency start up disks. |
6. Make a full back up of your system. |
7. Run system set up and make a note of all the drive and memory data listed in the CMOS. |
8. Copy the "autoexec.bat" and "config.sys" files to a floppy disk. |
9. Read the instruction on installation first. Some softwares may need all other programs to be closed before the installation is initiated. |
10. If possible, use the "Add-Remove" program function of the Windows 95 rather than running the "Install.exe". When you wish to uninstall the program, the "Add-Remove" program of the Windows 95 will do a more thorough cleaning of your system. If you have not installed the program through the "Add-Remove" program of the Windows 95, you can not uninstall programs through the same function. |
11. Try to install programs during working hours so that if you encounter a problem, you can contact the technical support of the company. |
